EASTER 2010

Our three-day Easter Celebration!

DAY ONE: Our three-day Easter celebration commenced with the traditional coloring of Easter Eggs. It just so happened to be Jaime's 30th birthday, so their family brought Grandma Lori into town and we colored eggs prior to going out to dinner at The Pancake House!

One of my family's traditions growing up was writing on the eggs with crayon BEFORE you die them and the wax from the crayon shows through quite nicely.

DAY TWO: Saturday... coming down the stairs to see what the Easter bunny brought them.

(it's a good thing I can focus on the smiles and excitement on these kids' faces, rather than the beautiful pink and red faux painted walls... ughhh... someday I will paint over that!)

This is what the Easter Bunny brought: hockey sticks for the whole family, water bottles, outdoor toys, and candy. Thank you, Easter Bunny... for keeping it simple... and thanks for remembering each of my children's colors... we ALL appreciated that!

Then it was time for the Easter Egg Hunt! The Easter Bunny always hides eggs in each of my children's colors. They are modestly filled with candy and money... and there is always ONE BIG GOLDEN EGG... which has the BIG BUCKS, and a good amount of candy... and is difficult to find!

But wait a minute. There are FIVE happy and anxious kids hunting for eggs. Where's the 6th Child - Eli? The Easter Bunny must not have been able to find Eli's color (Red) and chose to hide Orange eggs instead... but, that's ok... even Eli knew which eggs to hunt for!

And who found the ONE BIG GOLDEN EGG this year...

Once all the eggs were found, the kids gathered in the family room to survey their findings, to eat their candy first thing in the morning, and count their money.

This is perhaps my favorite picture. Unfortunately what this picture DOES NOT depict is that Emma had already taken all of the candy and money out of her eggs. At this point, she is REFILLING the eggs with her candy, STUFFING as much into one egg as she can. And, when Tyler isn't looking (who is sitting next to her), she is sneaking one or two of his Starbursts to jam into her eggs as well. She is no dummy. Beyond that blonde hair, blue eyes, and chubby cheeks, is a master mind of a brain that is far beyond my comprehension at times. Watch out for her!

We were then off to a yummy breakfast and headed to the couch and table/chairs for General Conference (which is another post).

Day THREE: Sunday. This is the day that we reserve only for our Savior... to remember his sacrifice for us - his suffering in the garden, his crucifixion, and his resurrection - and are grateful for the atonement in our lives. Each of the children received something from US, as their parents: the boys - new ties, the girls - new dresses, ALWAYS something just for Sunday! How wonderful it was that we got to watch General Conference on this sacred and special day!
